In the late ’40s, Chicago painter Leon Golub led a group of Midwest artists dubbed the “Monster Roster,” drawn together by their shared reverence for mythology and ancient art. The Smart Museum examines the lasting influence of the collective, bringing together a selection of major paintings and sculptures made by its members.
