Holy anniversary, Batman! It's been 75 years since the Dark Knight made his debut in 1939 and quickly became one of America's most beloved comic book characters. Since then, the Caped Crusader has been the subject of numerous TV shows, cartoons, films and an entire Prince album.

Today, comic book shops all over the nation are celebrating Batman Day by giving away a free comic that reimagines the character's origin story as depicted in Detective Comics #27. Several local stores will be joining the celebration by offering up free masks, capes and posters to customers, while supplies last. Where can you get those wonderful giveaways? We suggest visiting one of the 13 best comic book stores in town.
