Brunch of the week: Coda di Volpe

Southport Corridor newcomer Coda di Volpe, from Billy Lawless (The Gage, Beacon Tavern, The Dawson) and chef Chris Thompson, just started serving brunch on Saturdays and Sundays—a welcome addition for the spot that's getting lots of love. Like the dinner menu, the brunch menu focuses on Southern Italian fare with a few shareable items like brunch pizzas (we have our eyes on the bacon and eggs—with pancetta, potatoes, egg, smoked mozzarella and Grana Padano).

You'll also be able to grab breakfast standbys like foccacia French toast with nutella whipped cream (oh, yes), candied orange syrup and goat butter. There's also risotto "oatmeal" (we're intrigued), with rice porridge, crispy oats, roasted peaches and caramelized honey milk. For the non-breakfast eaters in your group, there are also lunch-type items like a wood-grilled skirt steak salad with roasted corn, sheep's milk gorgonzola, mustard greens, cherry tomatoes, shaved radishes and buttermilk vinaigrette.

Whatever you pick, don't skip the brunch cocktails menu, including a Sicilian Bloody Mary with Calabrian chili spicy tomato, lemon, pickled pepper, Sicilian oil-cured olive, pecorino and soppressata. That plus the wine menu, and we think we have our weekend brunch plans set.
