If you've ever thought that Chicago's vibrant craft beer scene deserved a little more recognition, you might want to grab a ticket to the 39th Annual Illinois Craft Beer Awards (don't get confused—contrary to its name, this is the first time the ceremony has taken place). Organized by the folks behind local craft beer magazine Mash Tun Journal and Avondale liquor store the Beer Temple, the inaugural event seeks to recognize the people who work within the Illinois beer industry.

The party takes place at Chop Shop on Sunday, October 23 from 4pm–7pm and will award a series of “Foamie” trophies to a group of beer industry professionals. Attendees will receive complimentary beer and Malört while enjoying live music and entertainment. According to the event's website, there will even be paparazzi and swag bag, which makes this soirée sound like a beer-focused (and, inevitably, slightly more tipsy) version of the Academy Awards.

Tickets are on sale now for just $35 and all proceeds from the event will benefit Doctors without Borders and a local Chicago Public School.
