Black Button Eyes Productions has revealed casting for the upcoming (and long overdue) Chicago premiere of Shockheaded Peter, opening in August at the Athenaeum Theatre. (A touring production of the show played Chicago in 2001, also at the Athenaeum.)

The cult-favorite 1998 musical, created by Julian Crouch and Phelim McDermott with music by the Tiger Lillies, is a gleefully grotesque “nasty picture book” about naughty children getting grisly comeuppances. The Chicago staging, directed by Ed Rutherford, will feature Ellen DeSitter, Kat Evans, Jessica Lauren Fisher, Caitlin Jackson, Cody Jolly, Josh Kemper, Genevieve Lerner, Pavi Proczko, Stephanie Stockstill, Gwen Tulin, Kevin Webb and Anthony Whitaker.

T.J. Anderson is music director for the production. The design team includes Jeremiah Barr (scenic design, props design, puppetry and technical director), Beth Laske-Miller (costumes), Liz Cooper (lighting), John Mathias (sound) and Derek Van Barham (movement director), with stage management by Alexa Berkowitz.

Shockheaded Peter runs August 11 to September 16.
