Ron Swanson would never deign to visit the big city, but Nick Offerman is coming to Chicago to talk about woodworking. The Parks and Recreation star is on tour this fall to promote his forthcoming book, Good Clean Fun: Misadventures in Sawdust at Offerman Workshop.

Offerman’s book is scheduled for an October 18 release, and he’ll be speaking at the Music Box on October 22 at 7pm. He’s also scheduled to speak at Minooka High School in Minooka, IL, his alma mater. Purchase your advance tickets for his Chicago show here.

Offerman is best known for his work on NBC’s Parks and Recrecation as the curmudgeonly (but secretly soft), libertarian Parks Department boss, Ron Swanson. If you’re unfamiliar, please, for your own sake, revel in the glory that is Ron Swanson. We’ll wait.

Good, now we’re all caught up. Anyway, Offerman Workshop is a very real place in East LA, so we’re excited to peek into the actor’s woodworking expertise.

Offerman, an Illinois native, came up in the Chicago theater scene before moving to Los Angeles in 1997. He’s now one half of Hollywood’s funniest power couple with brilliant wife Megan Mullally.

You can pre-order Offerman’s book here. Also, if your name is Tammy, please don’t attend Offerman’s event.
