A sprawling seven-bedroom, 20,000 square-foot manor on Lincoln Park's ritzy Burling Street sold for more than $13.34 million on Tuesday. The home, which occupies five city lots at 1955 N Burling Street, was on the market for nearly a year and a half. It was originally listed for a whopping $18.75 million, and if it had sold at that amount it would have trumped last year's $17 million sale of the 89th-floor penthouse at the Trump Tower and tied the May purchase of a Park Tower condo as the most expensive residential real estate sale in Chicago history.

The home's status was changed to contingent last July, but after contract negotiations stalled it was put back onto the market. The price eventually dropped to $16.9 million in October before selling for a good bit less than that figure this week.

The house was built in 1999, but its architecture has a classical, early 20th century feel. It has a separate two-bedroom guesthouse, a six-car garage, an indoor pool and spa, a home theater and a view of the skyline that could bring tears to your eyes. On top of all that, it has six fireplaces (because why not?) and a backyard that looks like something out of The Nutcracker

Check out some photos below to see what eight figures buys.
