The five best things to do this weekend in Chicago

1. Head to a summer festival

Wicker Park Fest attendees can expect three stages of Pitchfork-caliber bands (including the Mountain Goats, Alvvays and Rocket From the Crypt), record stores, thrift shops and lots of food. Explore the neighborhood event and grab a beer to cool off. (Wicker Park Fest, Milwaukee Ave and North Ave, Sat–Sun 12pm, $10 suggested donation)

2. Enjoy the music

Bat Boy: The Musical is a tongue-in-cheek comedy that is sure to make for a fun night out. The fast-paced play—which features a set of solid lead actors—will keep you entertained. (The Den Theatre, 1333 N Milwaukee Ave, Fri–Sat 7:30 Sun 3pm. $34.50–39.50)

3. Drink new brews

Chicago plans on breaking into the triple digits temperature-wise this weekend, so forget the heat and sip cold beer at the Chicago Craft Beer Festival. There will be more than 40 brewers in Lincoln Park serving up about 80 craft beers. (Chicago Craft Beer Festival, Sheffield Ave between Webster and Fullerton, Sat–Sun 11:30am. $35)

4. Dance the night away

You’ll have three chances to hit the dance floor this weekend at Chicago SummerDance. Attendees will get a free one-hour dance lesson and then a live band to serenade their newfound moves. (Grant Park Spirit of Music Garden, 601 S Michigan Ave, Fri–Sat 6pm Sun 4pm. Free)

5. Test your smarts

Neighborhood cocktail bar Barrelhouse Flat hosts a trivia night, where drink and shot specials will keep your team motivated through a night of brainy questions. (The Barrelhouse Flat, 2624 N Lincoln Ave, Sun 7pm. Free)
