1. Check out the jets in action

Cover your ears and look up, the Blue Angels are in town! Head to the lakefront (or to these spots) for the perennial favorite, the Chicago Air and Water Show. (North Avenue Beach, 1600 N Lake Shore Dr, Sat & Sun 10am. Free)

2. Nerd out to the extreme

Throw on your best Star Wars gear and head to Rosemont—Wizard World Comic Con is back for another year. Confirmed guests include Carrie Fisher, Michael J. Fox, Gillian Anderson, David Duchovny and more. (Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, 5555 N River Rd in Rosemont, Fri noon–7pm, Sat 10am–7pm, Sun 10am–5pm. $50–$70, weekend pass $105)

3. Dance the night away

Chances Dances is the go-to indie queer dance party in Chicago. All genders, races, ages and dance abilities are welcome. (Subterranean, 2011 W North Ave, Sat 10pm. $5)

4. Score some awesome vintage

Vintage Garage Chicago pops up every third Sunday in an Uptown parking garage, and this month’s theme is 1986. If you’ve been aiming to add some Madonna to your wardrobe, now’s your chance. (Vintage Garage Chicago, 5051 N Broadway, Sun 10am–5pm. $5)

5. Take in a biographic play

This weekend is your last chance to catch this run of Death & Harry Houdini at Chopin Theatre. This biography of the infamous early 20th century escape artist is a staple of Chicago theater. (Chopin Theatre, 1543 W Division St, Fri 7:30pm, Sat & Sun 4pm and 8pm. $45–$59)
