1. Go to a cosmic symphony

After a 10-year absence the Chicago Sinfonietta's Cosmic Convergence gets a revival. Experience this audio-visual collaboration between Chicago Sinfonietta and astronomer Dr. José Francisco Salgado set to Gustav Holst famous celestial suite, The Planets. (Symphony Center, 220 S Michigan Ave, 7:30pm. $18–$60)

2. Head to a concert

Rock out to the pulsing drums and gritty blues riffs of the Kills, which features Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince. Expect a lively show that demonstrates this pair’s electric dynamic. (Riviera Theatre, 4746 N Racine Ave, 8:00pm. $30)

3. See fabric art

Fiber artist Karen Reimer has created a large scale installation inspired by the Hyde Park Art Center fabled past. Check out how she uses fabric and sand to create an artificial oceanfront scene paying homage to the site that used to host the fabled Chicago Beach Hotel. (Hyde Park Art Center, 5020 S Cornell Ave, 9am. Free)
