The three best things to do today in Chicago

1. Party on a yacht

We know the heat wave is killer. So hop on a yacht and sail across the lake with a cool drink in your hand. Catch sunset views of the skyline, enjoy a live DJ and maybe win a raffle. Be sure to arrive 30 minutes early or you may miss the boat! (Anita Dee Yacht Charters, 200 N Breakwater Access, 7pm. $30)

2. Learn the power of an image

National Geographic photographers travel the world to capture stories of war zones, closed-off communities, wilderness and even tattoo parlors. Escape the heat and explore the work of 11 iconic female photographers at the Field Museum’s Women of Vision special exhibit. (The Field Museum, 1400 S Lake Shore Dr, 9am. $30–$35)

3. Celebrate an anniversary

The old-school steakhouse, Gene & Georgetti’s, is celebrating its 75th anniversary with a tasty special menu. For $75 (for two guests), indulge in two appetizers, two salads, two entrees, two side plates and a dessert. Try to save room for the Key Lime Tart. Call for reservations. (Gene & Georgetti, 500 N Franklin St, 5pm. $75)
