1. Find your muse

Chicago’s first ever Museum Week is finally here, bringing us special events, deals and discounts from 12 of our city’s favorite institutions. The week kicks off today so you can start getting amazing access to favorite museums like the Art Institute, the Field Museum and the Shedd Aquarium. Visit an old favorite or take time to fall in love with a new Chicago spot. (Various venues, hours and ticket prices vary each day at each museum)

2. Become an architecture aficionado

This fall is full of ways to explore our city’s excellent architecture and chances to get to know the innovative designs of the world’s up-and-coming architects. The Chicago Architecture Biennial starts today, so you can take in the State of the Architecture in the city known for its designs through a series of exhibitions and installations. The biennial runs through December but seriously, why wait? (Various venues throughout Chicago, hours vary per venue. Free)

3. See what’s cookin’

Taste one-of-a-kind dishes crafted by Chicago’s top chefs and cocktail crafters at the Common Threads Cook Off, where our favorite eateries face off to create unique dishes and drinks inspired by themes like “the garden," "the pasture" and "the barrel." Attendees get to be the tastemakers so prepare to sample tantalizing creations and cast your vote. (Revel Downtown, 440 W Randolph St, 6:30pm. $85)
