You're one of the few, the lucky who isn't totally hungover on New Year's Day. Congratulations. Or, you are hungover but also a glutton for punishment or a hair-of-the-dog person. Regardless, while many will be cuddling their pillows all day, you can still get out and enjoy some music, events and more great things to do.

Nick Waterhouse will be playing his ’50s-style rock tunes at Schubas. If you didn't manage to score a ticket to his New Year's Eve show, this is your chance to see him. (Schubas, 9pm. $20-25)

Split between three venues in Wicker Park, Ian's Party kicks off the new year with a three-day lineup of local bands. On Saturday, head to Subterranean to listen to the soulful folk ballads of Al Scorch. (Various venues, 6pm. $15 day pass, $30 three day pass)

Still in the mood for Christmas lights? Zoo Lights offers up a whimsical display of sparkly lights amid the animal houses. Go get your fix while you can. (Lincoln Park Zoo, 12pm. Free)

Kick off the new year by embracing winter and going ice skating. There are plenty of rinks to pick from, so choose something that tickles your fancy (Maggie Daley Skating Ribbon and the Millennium Park rink are both open) and get your skate on. (Various venues, 10am, Price varies)

Head to one of one of Chicago's museums. Adler Planetarium, The Field Museum, Garfield Park Conservatory, Museum of Science and Industry and Shedd Aquarium are open for the day (some with limited hours), so go learn about space, sea creatures or fine art for the day. (Various venues, as early as 9:30am, Price varies)

See two legendary garage rock acts play music that paved the way for many modern bands. The Gories + The Oblivians will hit the stage at Empty Bottle after a sold out New Year's Eve concert. (Empty Bottle, 9pm. $35)

Get a start on your new year's resolutions with a quick and brisk run/walk along the lakefront at the New Year's Day 5K Run/Walk. (Lincoln Park Conservatory, 11am. $35-55)

Start the new year by saying goodbye to all the tunes we loved in 2015 at the Now That's What I Call A Dance Party! at Beauty Bar. Get ready to dance and enjoy martinis and manicures. (Beauty Bar, 9pm. $5 cover)

For you bleary-eyed folks rolling out of bed and ready to keep going, head to Empty Bottle for the venue's Everyone's Hung Over party. DJs will be spinning tunes from the ’60s and ’70s with brunch served by Bite Cafe, if you need something to cut your drinks. (Empty Bottle, 11am. Free)
