Something new from Three Floyds is coming to Chicago, and while it's not the long-awaited brewpub, it's something that beer nerds will get excited about. The Indiana brewery's WarPigs Brewing brand (developed in collaboration with Danish brewery Mikkeller) will make its way to Chicago on Friday during a launch party at Emporium Arcade Bar's Wicker Park location.

WarPigs Brewing was founded in 2015, when Three Floyds and Mikkeller partnered to open a brewpub in Copenhagen. While Friday won't be the first time a WarPigs beer has been tapped in Chicago, it will mark the brand's official arrival in the Midwest—according to the Tribune, Great Central Brewing Co. in Chicago and Wisconsin Brewing Co. in Verona, Wisconsin are producing WarPigs beers under contract, led by Three Floyds' brewmasters.

As you might expect, the initial offerings from WarPigs will be packed with hops. The brand is bringing three beers to the Chicago market, including the Lazurite India Pale Ale, Salmon Pants Lager and Foggy Geezer Hazy India Pale Ale. The Lazurite India Pale Ale will be available at the Emporium event on draft and in cans.

While new beer from the minds behind Three Floyds is certainly exciting, the arrival of WarPigs suggests that a brewpub (where the brewery could make its own beer) is a definite possibility. Last September, Three Floyds founder Nick Floyd spoke with Eater Chicago about a property he owns in Humboldt Park, cryptically saying that "Something cool is going in there."

If you want to be among the first Chicagoans to taste WarPigs Brewing's latest offerings, head to Emporium Wicker Park on June 9 at 6pm and be prepared to wade through crowds of craft beer enthusiasts.
