Over the weekend, The Guardian published an interview with Jeff Tweedy, in which the Wilco frontman revealed that his band has another record ready to be released this year. The new record will come hot on the heels of Wilco's 2015 album Star Wars, which was released without any warning just days before the band's headlining performance at Pitchfork Music Festival.
Though Tweedy didn't reveal a prospective release date for the new album, there's a good chance the record could drop shortly before Wilco's newly announced concert at Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park on August 21. The concert will be the Chicago-based band's first hometown performance since its set at Pitchfork Music Festival last summer. No supporting acts have been announced, but the group has plenty of local friends (not to mention its members' numerous side-projects).
Tickets for Wilco's homecoming show will go on sale Friday, February 26 at 11am. Reserved pavilion seating will cost $75–$85 while lawn seats will be $30.
