Bang Bang Pie Shop

When Bang Bang parked its truck under the California Blue Line stop nearly two years ago, commuters made detours for Megan Miller’s flaky-crusted pies, washing them down with coffee made from beans her hubby, Dave, roasted himself. Soon, the couple retired the truck to open this beloved bakery just two blocks south, putting out buttery biscuits and perfect pies, from the frozen, sage-flecked lemon curd on graham-cracker crust to a genius Guinness chocolate that combines the texture of bread pudding with the richness of fudge. 2051 N California Ave (773-276-8888).

Other nominees Do-Rite Donuts, Interurban Café & Pastry Shop, Julius Meinl Coffee Bar & Patisserie, Katherine Anne Confections
