Just because it’s winter in Chicago doesn’t mean the pickleball action has to stop.

SPF, the city’s largest indoor pickleball facility, is set to debut to the public on Friday, January 26. Located at 2121 N Clybourn Ave in Lincoln Park, the 42,000-square-foot space offers a host of amenities, from pickleball to dining and entertainment. The venue will be completed in phases, with the opening portion featuring eight pickleball courts with instant replay technology, a grab-and-go food and coffee bar, and luxurious locker rooms complete with saunas and showers.

“Whether you’re a seasoned pickleball player, you’re picking up a paddle for the first time or you’re just in to cheer on your friends and family, everyone is welcome,” said co-founder Rich Green in a release.

Court reservations are available now on SPF’s official website. Players who are serious about the fastest-growing sport in America can sign up for Club SPF, a membership program that provides early access to court reservations, free paddle and ball rentals, special monthly programming and more. The family-friendly venue will also host a Cucumber Club for children ages 3-11, which includes tennis and pickleball camps, lessons and events. Classes are currently open for registration.

When players need to refuel, they’ll be able to enjoy food options from Honey Butter Fried Chicken founders Josh Kulp and Christine Cikowski, along with former Galit chef Tom Carlin. The full-service coffee bar will pour hot brews from Chicago-based Kikwetu Coffee.

SPF’s second phase is scheduled to be completed this summer, bringing expanded food and beverage offerings, an additional pickleball court and a turf field for games.
