Fans of Minecraft will soon be able to step inside the blocky universe IRL.
An immersive attraction called Minecraft Experience: Villager Rescue is making its midwest debut on May 8 at EXP Rosemont, bringing the world of the best-selling video game of all time to life just outside Chicago.

Created in collaboration with game developer Mojang Studios and immersive entertainment producers including Experience MOD, the attraction invites visitors to explore the Overworld through a story-driven quest packed with interactive challenges.
During the experience, players will embark on a rescue mission to save villagers from a zombie attack. Along the way, participants journey through seven Minecraft-inspired realms, gathering resources, solving puzzles and encountering familiar creatures from the game, from friendly pandas and dolphins to skeletons, spiders and the ever-terrifying creepers.
To guide them through the adventure, each participant carries an “Orb of Interaction,” a glowing handheld device that helps track progress and unlock parts of the story as guests search for ingredients to craft a life-saving potion.
The experience is designed to appeal to both longtime Minecraft players and newcomers, so you don’t need to know your Redstone from your pickaxe to participate. After completing the mission, visitors can celebrate at an on-site Trading Post selling themed souvenirs and even unlock a commemorative in-game cape as proof of their heroics. (Like any good gift shop, this one doesn't require a ticket to shop at.)
An After Hours edition turns up the fun on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 7 to 10pm, when guests 18 and older can dive into a fully Minecraft-themed evening complete with mocktails and cocktails, trivia challenges, a scavenger hunt and other exclusive games. Adult Night tickets include access to the experience, one complimentary mocktail (upgradeable to a cocktail for an additional charge) and the chance to participate in special games and win prizes, making it the perfect outing for gaming friends looking to enjoy Minecraft in a grown-up setting.
Tickets go on sale March 17 at 9am CT, starting at $28, with multi-pack and group options also available. The attraction will run for a limited time in Rosemont’s Pearl District.
