If you're forgoing your summer vacation this year in favor of something closer to home, you might want to have a look around the highly anticipated Nobu Hotel, which opens in the West Loop on Wednesday, July 1. The 115-room luxury hotel first announced its arrival in Chicago six years ago and has encountered a handful of delays along the way.

Co-owned by Robert De Niro, New York-based Nobu Hospitality plans to open the 11-story building in phases, with guest rooms and the Rooftop at Nobu debuting first on July 1. The celebrity-lauded Nobu restaurant, which is located on the first floor of the hotel, will open at a later, undetermined date, according to the press release.

The accommodations range from a 360-square-foot Deluxe room to the 1,950-square-foot two-bedroom Villa City View suite. Upgraded features include soaking tubs, steam showers, room service and yoga mats. Design firm Studio K is responsible for blending the hotel's Japanese aesthetic with industrial touches that have become synonymous with the West Loop. Rooms for opening weekend range from $252 to $806.
