You won't be able to buy any furniture at the IKEA Inspiration Experience, which will take over a storefront in Bucktown next week, but you will be able to admire Swedish-designed fittings and enjoy some complimentary meatballs. On August 23, IKEA will celebrate its 75th anniversary with a free pop-up experience, made up of rooms that are filled with stuff that you'll be able to find in the company's big blue store in Schaumburg.

The items on display are pulled from the pages of IKEA's 2019 catalog, which means that you'll learn lots of new Swedish words as you make your way through the rooms. Guests can take part in a game that runs through the pop-up, which tests their IKEA knowledge (and hopefully not their ability to build furniture) and allows them to earn points that can be redeemed for prizes. Attendees can take a photo in the IKEA Time Machine and visit the meatball bar, where they'll be able to get a free, customizable taste of the furniture store's signature dish.

The IKEA pop-up will be located at 1714 N Damen Avenue (in a storefront that was once the home of a Marc Jacobs store) and will be open Thursday, August 23 through Sunday, August 26. You can stop by to see the sights and eat some meatballs from 10am to 9pm Thursday through Saturday or 10am to 7pm on Sunday.
