This is probably the wildest cocktail offering we have heard about in the past few years: Popular Chicago restaurant Adalina has just teamed up with fine and bridal jewelry brand Marrow Fine, which operates a storefront right below the eatery, to present the most expensive martini in the U.S.—the $13,000 Marrow Martini.
Now on the menu at the Italian restaurant, the cocktail is a smoked heirloom tomato mezcal martini that is served alongside a nine-carat diamond tennis necklace featuring 150 diamonds in 14k gold. The imbibing concoction was created by Colin Hofer, the general manager at Adalina and an award-winning hospitality professional who was named sommelier of the year by the Michelin Guide in 2022.
"Each time I have visited Adalina, I’m blown away by every dish but also by the palpable energy and excitement in the restaurant," said Jillian Sassone, the founder of Marrow Fine, in an official statement. "The $13k Marrow martini is a fun collaboration between our brands and an extension of that excitement. And I suspect it will make for a few very memorable evenings."
We live in Chicago, so we're used to hearing about luxurious dishes and drinks, but this one certainly takes the cake and makes us wonder ... if this is the most expensive martini in just the U.S., who, exactly, is serving the costliest one in the world and can we try a sip?
No word yet on how long the martini will be on offer, but, let's be honest, we can't imagine too many average Chicagoans will indulge in the creation. After all, who has thousands of dollars just laying around ready to be spent on a simple drink?
