1. Pig out at the first day of Ribfest Chicago, a three-day festival that serves more than 50,000 pounds of pork that's cooked by some of the city's top barbecue joints. Tonight, the Waco Brother and Al Scorch provide the musical accompaniment for your feast. The fest runs from 5 to 10pm and a $5 donation is requested for entry.

2. Local singer-songwriter Vivian McConnell plays dreamy tunes dappled with reverberating guitars and gentle flute melodies as V.V. Lightbody, celebrating the release of her new album, Bathing Peach, at Schubas Tavern. The show begins at 9pm and admission is $12.

3. Dennis Watkins dips into his bag of tricks at the Magic Parlour, an intimate evening of mind-blowing illusions that takes place in a small room inside the Palmer House. Tickets are $79 and include complimentary beer and wine.
