1. In Guards at the Taja play by Rajiv Joseph (who also wrote Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo), two low-ranking guards recount a dark legend about the construction of the Taj Mahal on the night before the mausoleum’s unveiling. The play hits the stage at the Steppenwolf Theatre at 7:30pm and tickets are $20–$94.

2. The Art Institute of Chicago explores the work of Japanese artists Onchi Kōshirō and Saitō Kiyoshi in “Modern Japanese Portraits,” an exhibit which explores the sōsaku hanga (“creative prints”) movement. The museum is open from 10:30am to 5pm and adult admission is $25.

3. The premise of the Armando Diaz Experience is simple: a performer takes an audience suggestion and performs a monologue based around it, then some of the iO Theater's top talents improvise a series of scenes that relate to it. The show begins at 8pm and tickets are $12.
