With room for future championships, of course.

Ten years have passed since the Cubs took home a World Series championship and, instead of waiting around to do it again, the team is getting proactive and giving their fans a reason to celebrate anyway. So Wrigley Field is getting a new, permanent monument dedicated to the Chicago Cubs' World Series championships.

The Cubs recently announced plans for "Champions Gate," a new archway monument that will be installed at the western entrance to Gallagher Way. The structure will pay tribute to all three of the franchise's World Series-winning teams: 1907, 1908 and, most importantly for modern Cubs fans, the 2016 squad that ended a 108-year drought.

The monument is set to be officially unveiled on July 18 as part of the team's celebration marking the 10th anniversary of the 2016 championship season. According to the Cubs, Champions Gate is designed not only to commemorate the franchise's past titles but to leave room for future championships. Hope never dies at Wrigley!

Renderings released by the organization show an imposing brick-and-metal archway featuring references to the Cubs' championship history. And because it's placed near Gallagher Way, even fans without tickets can pay their respects to one of the most memorable nights in Chicago sports history.

The unveiling is part of a larger weekend celebration honoring the 2016 team, during which members of the championship roster will return to Wrigley Field for special ceremonies and fan events.

While Wrigley Field is already packed with nods to Cubs history—from statues of Ernie Banks, Ron Santo and Billy Williams to the ivy-covered walls themselves—Champions Gate will serve as the franchise's first permanent monument dedicated specifically to its World Series titles.

For Cubs fans, especially those who spent decades waiting for 2016 to happen, the new landmark will offer something that's been surprisingly absent from the stadium: a place to commemorate the championship that changed everything.

And for anyone who still tears up watching rain-soaked highlights from Game 7, this has to be your next pilgrimage.
