The Richie Burger is available at Labriola on Michigan Avenue.

The Chicago outpost of Labriola Ristorante & Café has a restaurant, a bar and a bakery cafe, where the focus is on the breads and pastries. At the latter, slices of chicken wrapped with prosciutto are pressed into a panini, burgers come on excellent brioche or pretzel rolls and the housemade gelato is among the creamiest in town.

I had high expectations for this place due to its location but I was not satisfied. I ordered the Magherita Pizza and let's just say I've have better. The doe was soggy, no sliced tomatoes and a total of 4 basil leaves on a 12in pizza. The atmosphere is very classic. However I did enjoy the music, lots of hits from the 70's. The prices are reasonable and it's open connection to Stan Donuts is a plus. Easy access for dessert!

Among the many Italian restaurants downtown, there is always a miss. Labriola did not deliver enough to stand up to the competion. While the penne alla vodka was fine, although a little dry for my taste, a friend's chicken Parmesan was way overpriced in my opinion. The cocktails were quite small for the pricetag as well, though tasty. The major downside for me was our extremely awkward waiter who seemed to rush us to order at times, refused to make eye contact, and disappeared completely when it came time for the bill. We attempted to catch his attention a few times to bring to forgotten things, such as napkins and silverware, just for him to walk right by us and into the kitchen. I also couldn't help but notice some mishaps at tables around us, forgotten pizza orders, returned food and such. They may have just been having an unusually tough or busy Friday night, but the unwarranted price tag doesn't make me want to come back and try again.
