It’s nostalgia that draws people in droves to this kitschy diner/ice-cream parlor. Fancy silver trays, paper doilies and saucers filled with chocolate and caramel sauces bring back fond memories for many who’ve made this place a tradition since it opened in 1921. Equally reminiscent of the good old days are the display shelves, which are crowded with memorabilia from the Beatles, who just had to have some Margie’s ice cream after they played Comiskey.

Oh man, this place is too good and too close to my house. I always kind of wondered if everything just looked fabulous but didn't taste as good--happy to report that that is most definitely NOT the case. The ice cream desserts are truly delicious, especially the homemade fudge topping. I want to go back soon to try a chocolate shake, but it will be hard not to order a sundae. Such a cute neighborhood shop.

A classic ice cream parlor that brings waves of nostalgia as soon as you enter. You can't go wrong with a no frills, old fashioned sundae, and they have dozens of varieties. A great late night spot as well when the craving for sugar is real. During the summer and weekends it gets packed so expect a wait for a table, but it is definitely worth it.

Margie's is a Chicago staple that pretty much anyone who grew up here is happy to wax nostalgic about. The menu is the largest you'll probably ever find an ice cream shop, but as long as whatever you order is topped with the house made fudge then you're on the right track. Good luck finishing it all.

Platters of ice cream and chocolate turtles as big as your head? Yes, please! The only problem you'll ever run into at Margie's Candies in Bucktown is deciding what totally gluttonous dessert you should order. And then maybe eating it all. This is a great place to take friends or family. Each booth has a small vintage jukebox to add to the old-time ice cream parlor feel. You can also buy chocolates and other treats to go. They make great Chicago souvenirs or gifts!
