Time Out says

Our go-to spot for seafood, Shaw's Crab House is a Chicago classic. Choose from two seating experiences: the traditional white-tablecloth–equipped dining room or the lively oyster bar, where you'll find us sucking down bivalves, cracking open crab claws and dunking lobster tails in butter. The menu also includes a terrific lobster roll, bound up with the barest hint of mayo, and sushi and sashimi. Pair your seafood feast with a local beer or a classic martini, which goes perfectly with oysters.

I went their on my 32 nd birthday and I did not want to leave the crabs and the shrimps are amazing

Eh... I was hoping for a lot from the Oyster Bar here, and it was pretty good, but not spectacular. I guess they were pretty slammed that Monday night during happy hour, because it took at least 15 minutes to get service and then another 25 minutes to receive our oysters. I partook in the oyster happy hour special ($1.50 an oyster), but was bummed to find out that they no longer offered happy hour drink specials, which I had seen somewhere online a few months earlier. The food and drinks are fairly high priced and the portions are a bit smaller than I would like. I had a $13 cocktail that I drank in about five sips. The $18 lobster tacos were delicious, but the three tiny tacos hardly made a dent in my hunger. At least the cheesy potatoes were enormous, and left me feeling full and happy.

Lettuce Entertain You is always so great about ambiance and transporting its guests to a different place, which is exactly what Shaw's does the moment you walk in. It's 1945, you're suddenly your grandpa and you are paying with your diner's club credit card. Awesome memorabilia all over the place and the waiters are still in that stuffy black and white uniform which is out of place in most places today but not at Shaw's. It's delish, seafood is always expensive but it is a little more expensive than I think necessary, probably due to location. Some of my favorite things, the crab cake caesar and lobster bites. Less impressing, the lobster roll. Not worth the price.

Divine food. Delicious crab and lobster cakes. Sophisticated atmosphere. Excellent service. It has always been a delightful experience to all my senses!

This is one of the few places outside of New England where I will order lobster. Nuff said.

This past Saturday, I was able to attend a birthday celebration for a dear friend whom I met through social media. She chose Shaw's Crab Shack as her destination, and I was excited about it: firstly, because I'm a HUGE seafood fan, and secondly, because I had never been to Shaw's and I love new food experiences. Once I arrived, I knew that my dining experience would be supreme and sublime: and it was both, and then some.

While some may find the buffet price a bit high (it's $55/person), I'd like to say it's well worth the price. Between fresh seafood and made-to-order omelettes, this restaurant offers the mother load of buffet options; and each option is more delicious than the next. French-fried shrimp, crab legs, fresh sushi, french toast, hash browns, prime rib, made-to-order delicacies, mini crab cakes, an entire table of cavity-causing sweets, and THE BEST tasting bacon in the world......and I haven't eaten bacon in over 10 years.

The ambiance was very warm and friendly; the red upholstery and soft gold lighting made for a very relaxing and intimate setting. The servers were top-notch at their job: waiting and willing to do your hunger bidding with smile on their faces all the while.

Highly recommended for the foodie.......highly recommended for a celebration..............highly recommended in general if you'd like to partake in a wonderful brunch buffet on a Sunday.

5 STAR STATUS FOR ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
