Senior Croatian couple Marica and Mijat Barišić have arrived in Liverpool for Saturday’s Eurovision Song Contest, having trekked all the way from their little island of Vir near Zadar.
As we recently reported, the pair hitchhiked to England in the 1960s and caught the Beatles’ famous rooftop show, the band’s last live performance. They also crossed paths with the Rolling Stones before the group played in Zagreb in 1976.
Now the couple have rekindled their love of music and travel thanks to Let 3, the Croatian entry for this year’s Eurovision being held in Liverpool. Last night, the Rijeka funsters got through the semi-final stage to make it to the gala final, where their song, Mama ŠČ!, will be up against 25 others from across Europe.
Marica and Mijat Barišić, meanwhile, are still looking for a ticket, if anyone has two spare, and perhaps even a bed for the night…
