Encouraged by the attractive financial incentives offered by the Filming in Croatia initiative, along with superb locations and skilled crews, another major production company is looking to shoot here in 2023.
Searchlight Pictures is currently in the pre-production stage with Geremy Jasper’s O’Dessa, a dystopian rock opera starring Sadie Sink of Stranger Things fame. Best known for his acclaimed debut Patti Cake$, Jasper writes, directs and co-scores, just as he did for his Sundance smash back in 2017.
Principal photography should start this May.
In recent months, Time Out Croatia has reported on Marion Cotillard shooting a Lee Miller biopic in Dubrovnik, and Kate Beckinsale filming in Zagreb.
With serious competition around the region to attract production companies, Croatia is currently offering them a 25% cash rebate, plus an extra 5% for filming in areas of below average development.
