Ten of Glasgow’s finest food vendors are in the running to be named as Glasgow’s best independent food shop.

The BBC Good Food Show Scotland has been looking for the city’s favourite hidden gem ahead of their event at the SECC in November – with the winner to receive a free stand at the show.

Members of the public were asked to nominate their local shops earlier this year and vote for their favourite on Twitter and Instagram – with the store with the most votes being automatically shortlisted. Italian deli Eusebi on Shettlesdon Road was the winner of the public vote and has made it onto a shortlist with nine other stores selected by the judges.

The shortlisted shops will now be visited by judges, who will be looking at the range of international and local produce, quality and value of produce, product knowledge and enthusiasm, customer service, services and facilities, and community involvement.

The full shortlist is:

Quality Vitamins & Herbs
Locavore
Eat Deli
Dandy's Deli
Roots & Fruits
Demijohn
bakery47
Stan's Studio
Eusebi
Billingtons

Laura Biggs, managing director of BBC Good Food Shows, says,’ We absolutely love running this competition – unearthing fantastic food is our passion and this has proved to be a really great search. Scotland never lets us down with its consistently high quality of produce and customer service.’
