You may feel as though you got into a 60s and 70s time capsule when you step into Floresta da Estefânia: their two rooms have beige-patterned tiled walls and there are paintings of running horses and landscapes with waterfalls everywhere. This, of course, means delicious, honest food. There are daily specials as well as grilled pork cuts like secretos and lagartinhos, but also picanha (rump cap), all served with chips, rice and black beans. The fish front follows suit: Minho-style cod, pataniscas (cod fritters) you cannot refuse and, every once in a while, fried jaquinzinhos (Atlantic horse mackerel).
