Madrasta is a sun-filled restaurant with an open kitchen serving up a Mediterranean menu with a lot of Italian classics. The space is bright and opens out to the streets The building still has the curved 1950s lines, though it’s been fully renovated. There’s a terrace out front for long sunny days, and a rooftop bar that’s perfect for raising a glass at sunset.
From the kitchen at Madrasta come well-loved classics like flaky meat pastries, octopus carpaccio with pico de gallo, and runny eggs with cured ham. Pasta dishes (€14–€22) are made with the same fresh pasta found across the group’s other restaurants. As for the pizzas (€10–€16), they’re the work of Luiz André Alvim from Bike Bakery – the result of a slow fermentation process that makes the dough light and airy but still perfectly crisp.
If you want to cut to the chase with the main courses, here are the must-orders: the baked rice with duck breast, the rich lobster risotto, and the short rib lasagne – dense but designed to melt in your mouth in seconds.
