  1. Topshop

    About the brand
Chances are you already have some Toppers denims: the store sells 50,000 pairs a week. Topshop has just relaunched its denim range, tweaking old favourite styles and introducing new ones. Say hello to the ‘girlfriend’ (boyfriends are so last season), with its ankle-grazing slim leg.

    Who’ll like it
    Fashion gals on a budget.

    Check it out for
A chic, slimmer take on the baggy boyfriend.

    £30-£50.

  2. Neuw Denim

    About the brand
Neuw Denim was founded by Swedish denim whizkid Par Lundqvist (formerly of Lee, Wrangler and Diesel, before he relocated to Australia to set up his own brand with two former colleagues). It does rockstar style inspired by vintage pieces.

    Who’ll like it
Those who won’t sacrifice style for comfort – its trademark ‘silk touch’ denim is deliciously soft.

    Check it out for
    Clean-cut, worn-in frill-free denims.

    Price
    From £120.

  3. Tiger of Sweden

    About the brand
This Scandi label has a background in men’s suit making, which is reflected in its sharp foray into denim. Tiger does minimalist styles that are distinctly not girly – made for men and women.

    Who’ll like it
A tomboy after a cool unfussy pair, or an edgy chap looking for jeans that aren’t too shabby.

    Check it out for
Slim fits and micro-engineered vintage washes. We like the Pistolero tapered jeans. Slim, but not ridiculously so.

    Price
    £99-£179.

  4. A Gold E

    About the brand
Jerome Dahan, the jeans mogul behind Citizens of Humanity and 7 For All Mankind – and thus the man you can thank (or blame) for the genesis of pricy premium denim – has launched a new line. It makes use of his unparalleled knowledge of fit and finish, but with half the hit to your wallet.

    Who’ll like it
Glam girls on the hunt for the ultimate flattering skinnies.

    Check it out for
    Perfectly engineered drainpipes.

    Price
    Around £100.

  5. Koral

    About the brand
Koral is an LA label with jeans in its genes – it’s the offshoot of a denim dynasty (designer David Koral’s father was the founder of cult label 7 For All Mankind with Jerome Dahan, see previous slide). This impressive heritage shows in its focus on neat cuts.

    Who’ll like it
Those who don’t mind spending money on chic dark denim that looks as expensive as it is.

    Check it out for
Very, very tight drainpipes in leatheresque finishes.

    Price
    £176-£193.
