This panel, the first in an ongoing series that will examine creativity in the modern world, attempts to answer the question: "What is the overarching role of artists in civic life and creative placemaking?" Quite a mouthful, but CalArts President Steven D. Lavine, president of Artspace in Minneapolis Kelley Lindquist and Pritzker-Prize winning architect Thom Mayne will be on hand to make the answer accessible and relevant to Angelenos' lives. The three will explore current topics from gentrification to the proposed mixed-use Broadway Arts Center that may be making its way to Downtown LA.
