La Bamba screening

The omnipresent Lou Diamond Phillips got his start playing teen rock'n' roll idol Ritchie Valens in La Bamba, which traces his brief life and short-lived fame—from being discovered by an LA record producer to becoming a star to his death in a plane crash along with Buddy Holly and the Big Bopper on "the day the music died." LDP mimes surprisingly convincingly to Los Lobos' admirably faithful cover versions of Valens' songs.
