You may never have heard of Lenny Cooke, but the high school basketball phenomenon seemed well on his way to stardom in 2001. He was ranked above future greats LeBron James, Amar’e Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony. But yet, fast-forwarding to today, Cooke has never clocked in any time in the NBA. This sports documentary, directed by brothers Joshua and Benny Safdie, explores his life and how so much attention so young ultimately kept him from his dream. Lenny Cooke will open Dec. 13 at the Laemmle Music Hall 3; tickets go on sale Tuesday, Dec. 10 at 7pm.
