A rare John Cassavetes film made at a major studio, Minnie and Moskowitz stars the director's regulars Gena Rowlands and Seymour Cassel as a pair of lovelorn urban misfits. Rowlands plays Minnie—a LACMA curator, fittingly enough—who catches the eye of parking attendant and eccentric New York transplant Seymour. The 1971 film's whimsy quotient gets a bit high at times, but a general air of intense loneliness compensates. See the film as part of LACMA's wallet-friendly Tuesday Matinee series at the museum's Bing Theater.
