Buckle up for the stranger-than-fiction tale of Matt VanDyke's journey in this riveting new documentary from Oscar-nominated filmmaker Marshall Curry. VanDyke—a shy 26-year-old plaged with OCD at the film's start—embarked on a motorcycle trip through North Africa and the Middle East for a self-described "crash course in manhood." He made friends in Libya, and when revolution broke out in the country, he joined in the fight against dictator Muammar Gaddafi, documenting much of the action on camera, until enemy forces captured him and held him in solitary confinement for six months. The gripping film won the Best Documentary Award at the Tribeca Film Festival and will be playing for a week at the Nuart, with director Marshall Curry there in person on Nov. 15.
