The Thing is the story of 12 men stuck in Antarctica who end up discovering something they probably wish they hadn't. John Carpenter's 1982 remake of Howard Hawkes' Thing stars the hunky Kurt Russell in one of his best performances—Carpenter tapped him after working on Escape from New York. The movie became a cult classic; although the film never blew the doors off the box office, it gained a large following through videotape in the '80s and '90s. Catch the film one of two nights at the Downtown Independent—presented by Cult Camp—for only $5.
