Talk about the ultimate flashback Friday. Swap out your late night plans for a midnight escapade at Westwood’s Nuart Theater, featuring the 1995 coming-of-age comedy Empire Records that basically guided our adolescence. Watch as a band of teenage misfits (including a young Liv Tyler, Renée Zellweger, and Rory Cochrane) chase out the big bad emporium from taking over their indie records store in one radically eventful day. With a handful of angst-filled teens running Empire Records, there’s, of course, the usual themes of identity crisis, first love, fear of growing up, rebellion, and true friendship—all in that late 90’s, rock n’ roll style we all know and love.
