Idan Raichel’s floating, yearning melodies evoke the sunlight, seashore and diverse city voices that make up Tel Aviv, his home base. He changed the face of Israeli popular music with a multi-ethnic fusion of traditional Ethiopian folk melodies, Arabic poetry and Yemenite chants featuring guest vocals from Colombian, Ugandan and Ethiopian singers. Now the 35-year-old singer and composer returns to LA to perform evocative love songs like “Hinech Yafah” and “Bo’ee.”
