This musical adaptation of the 1983 holiday movie recreates its best-loved sequences (tongue stuck to frozen flagpole, the kitschy leg lamp and a cynical department-store Santa) but ladles on too much schmaltz. Still, the direction is bouncy and the show is fairly painless.
