From 6-7:30pm, the Hammer Museum will screen the second Presidential debate in the Billy Wilder Theater, followed by a discussion on extremism in American politics led by Washington insiders Norman Ornstein, a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, and Thomas Mann, a senior fellow in governance studies at the Brookings Institution. (If you're curious about where Ornstein and Mann stand on the issue, perhaps the title of their recent best-selling book will give you a hint: It’s Even Worse Than It Looks: How the American Constitutional System Collided with the New Politics of Extremism.) Guests may attend one or both events as they wish.
