Welcome to Food Envy, where we’ll highlight different dishes from Time Out Market Miami that we think you’re going to love—partly because we do. This week, we’ve got all eyes and two hands on the Classic from S&D Burger.
A cheeseburger is a cheeseburger is a cheeseburger—that is to say that any combo of meat, cheese and bun starts off pretty great. Add a secret sauce to the list of ingredients and we’re sold. The classic at S&D Burger ticks off all the boxes for us and then some as chef-owner Sebastian Fernandez tops his with lettuce, tomato, pickles and red onion, plus a slice of melted American cheese to really seal the deal.
Fernandez is known for his obsession with ingredients and it shows, sourcing mostly local whenever possible and Wagyu always beef to create those juicy patties. His choice of brioche bun is also noteworthy. This very important vessel is soft and pillowy but firm enough to keep the whole dish together.
The classic is one of two burgers on the S&D menu topped with veggies (a must) and the only one we order when the cheeseburger craving strikes. We also don’t shy away from making it a double—it’s that good.
