Skiers have more reasons to look forward to the next few winters at Tremblant. The Quebec mountain resort has announced a $42.5 million expansion project that will add new ski terrain, a high-speed chairlift and a dedicated learning area for beginners.
The long-term development plan is designed to expand the mountain experience for skiers and snowboarders of all levels while increasing Tremblant’s hourly lift capacity by 10 per cent.

The biggest addition, Timber Summit, is scheduled to open for the 2027/28 winter season, bringing 62 acres of new skiable terrain and eight new trails to the resort. But beginners won't have to wait that long: a new learning area at Versant Soleil is set to open during the upcoming 2026/27 ski season.
What is happening in Tremblant?
The expansion is centred around two major additions: a new beginner learning area at Versant Soleil and the much larger Timber Summit ski sector.
The project builds on Tremblant's long-term development vision, which was first announced in 2020. Since then, the plans have evolved, with the resort increasing its investment to expand the scope of the project and further develop the mountain experience.
And with Club Med Tremblant confirmed at Versant Soleil, the expansion will also support the continued growth of this side of the mountain.

How difficult is skiing at Mont-Tremblant?
New to skiing? Tremblant is making it easier to get started.
A new dedicated beginner learning area will open at the base of Versant Soleil for the 2026/27 winter season. Located next to the Casino Express Gondola, the purpose-built space is designed to give first-time skiers a comfortable place to learn, build confidence and master their first turns.
The learning area will be open on weekends and during peak periods, and will also provide space for Tremblant’s Snow School programs.
The new area will feature:
- A covered surface lift—or covered magic carpet—for easy access to the learning terrain
- 1.1 acres of beginner terrain
- An average slope of approximately 13 degrees
- Snowmaking coverage across the entire learning area
- The gentle terrain is designed to help skiers progress from their first turns through the early stages of their skiing journey.
Timber Summit will add 62 acres of new ski terrain
The headline addition is Timber Summit, a brand-new ski sector that will add 62 acres of skiable terrain to Tremblant opening winter 2027/28.
The new sector will feature eight new ski trails, giving visitors even more ways to explore the mountain.
The trails will include:
- Seven trails toward Versant Soleil
- One trail toward the North Side
- A 428-metre vertical drop toward Versant Soleil
- Full snowmaking coverage
- The terrain mix is designed to accommodate a range of abilities, with: 35% beginner terrain; 60% intermediate terrain; 5% expert terrain
While the expansion adds plenty for more experienced skiers to explore, it isn't designed exclusively for experts.

What is the Timber Express?
The new Timber Summit terrain will be served by the Timber Express, a detachable high-speed quad chairlift designed to move skiers efficiently up the mountain.
The new lift will have:
- 2,400 skiers-per-hour capacity
- 1,800-metre length
- 423-metre vertical rise
- 125 chairs
- High-speed lift technology comparable to Tremblant’s Lowell Thomas Express
The increased capacity is expected to boost Tremblant's overall hourly lift capacity by 10 per cent, helping more skiers access the mountain's expanded terrain.
When will the new Tremblant ski trails open?
The new additions are arriving in stages.
The Versant Soleil beginner learning area is scheduled to open for the 2026/27 winter season, while the Timber Summit expansion and Timber Express chairlift are scheduled to welcome skiers for the 2027/28 winter season.
