Time Out says

On view are five monumental canvases from a series of self-portraits created by Andy Warhol during the last year of his life. Commissioned by London super-dealer Anthony d’Offay, and originally exhibited in July, 1986, the paintings picture Warhol’s head floating against a black background as if it had just been severed—an effect exaggerated by strands on the top of Andy’s wig, sticking up like they were being grabbed by an unseen hand. Warhol’s cold stare, and his sunken cheeks, add to the spooky prescience of an image made eight months before his death.
