Buttons, socks, wire hangers and dry-cleaner bags are just some of the quotidian castoffs recycled by Wurtz into marvelous feats of sculptural legerdemain. This survey show, organized by White Columns director Matthew Higgs on behalf of Metro Pictures and Feature, Inc. (Wurtz's gallery of long standing), spans four decades, affording gallerygoers ample opportunity to catch up with the artist's uniquely loopy—yet ultimately poignant—approach to assemblage.
