“Deadeye Dick: Richard Bellamy and His Circle”

As director of the Green Gallery (and later Oil & Steel) Richard Bellamy (1927-1998) shepherded the careers of some of the biggest names in American postwar art history. From the 1960s through the 1990s, he was essential to the development of Pop Art, Minimalism and Conceptual Art. Between 1960 and 1965 he fostered such talents as Claes Oldenburg, James Rosenquist, Tom Wesselmann, Mark di Suvero and George Segal to name a few. He was also the first to show the minimalist sculpture of Dan Flavin, Donald Judd and Robert Morris. This show brings together works by those artists and others to celebrate this legendarary art world figure.
