Deschenes's highly abstracted, deeply self-reflexive and deconstructive approach to photography (which is often cameraless) has the virtue of being as elegant as it is austere. In this show, she's fashioned silvery, elongated photograms into columnar forms, which are distributed around the gallery to suggest the corners of an invisible room. And indeed, part of the point here is to recall that camera is Latin for "room."
