Maira Kalman

The beloved artist, author and illustrator takes up both the gallery’s main room and it project space to present two bodies of original works conceived for publication: “The Elements of Style” fills the larger space with the 57 paintings that were included her 2005 book of the same name, which played wry tribute to the writer's bible compiled by William Strunk and E.B. White. Meanwhile, “Darling Dorset”—commissioned by Departures Magazine for its May/June 2017 issue—chronicles Kalman sojourn through Southwestern England, where she went to visit the many fine gardens and stately homes in the region.
